The snarky, but incredibly witty comments started when a fellow Montanan simply asked about traffic conditions - but misspelled 'Gallatin' when asking her question. What ensued was an abundance of genius replies about biblical references or alien highways. Facebook gold.

(The book of Galatians was written by the apostle Paul. He wrote this letter to address the issue of the Galatian churches deserting the true gospel and turning to a different, distorted version of Christianity. - Wikipedia)

Here's what was originally asked by someone in a local 'ask us' Facebook page: "What’s happening on the Galatian highway? Stopped. Not moving at all." Seems harmless, right? Not if you live in GALLATIN County. The floodgates have now opened.

  • "Probably something of Biblical proportions."
  • "Please tell me you've been calling it that when you speak to people."
  • "Omfg, I'm calling it that from now on."
  • "Sorry, I only lived in Bozeman 17 years...where is this Galatian Highway?"
  • Galatians 2, 4-6 - "Verily I say unto thee let thine studs carry thee. And the freeze shall thaw and cracks will be upon thine path. And then BFG shall carry thee through the season of construction and on the forest service roads, for all the miles of thine JK until thine frame breaks."
  • "Here’s a map of the main Galatian roads! Hope it helps!"

To be fair, many people know the names of Biblical chapters, but those who knew them well made the true internet gold. (It's worth looking up 'Galatians, bible' if you have some free time and are not already familiar with what happens.)

  • "Chariot on fire"
  • "Did you mean the road to Emmaus?"
  • "I don't think you actually want to know what's going on in Galatian Canyon. Just ask Paul and his opponents." :-)
  • "Now it is clear that no one is justified to drive the speed limit by the law, because the righteous will sit in Gallatin Canyon traffic.”

I, for one, will absolutely be calling Gallatin Canyon 'Galatian Canyon' for the rest of my existence. And cheers to the person who started this whole thing with their boo boo. It's just too funny. For real reference, according to Wikipedia:

"The Epistle to the Galatians[a] is the ninth book of the New Testament. It is a letter from Paul the Apostle to a number of Early Christian communities in Galatia. Scholars have suggested that this is either the Roman province of Galatia in southern Anatolia, or a large region defined by Galatians, an ethnic group of Celtic people in central Anatolia. The letter was originally written in Koine Greek and later translated into other languages."
