This Famous Montana Steakhouse & Bar Is Closing Its Doors

The days are numbered for a beloved institution in Livingston, Montana. The steakhouse and bar has been serving residents and visitors for decades. The business has been a gathering place for locals to enjoy good food, cold drinks, and great service.

Famous Montana Steakhouse & Bar Announces Closure

Montana has changed a lot in recent years, and many longtime businesses have disappeared. The Stockman in Livingston has been around for 120 years, and is considered a local landmark for many that live in the area. Unfortunately, the owner of the Stockman announced that the establishment will close after Labor Day weekend.

The announcement was made owner Chuck Tanner on The Stockman Livingston Montana page on Facebook. Tanner also owns the Emigrant Outpost, a bar and grill in Paradise Valley.

Livingston and surrounding Community. It makes me very sad to post this, but the Stockman will be shutting down after Labor Day weekend. I personally need to take better care of my health, and the repairs and maintenance of the building we lease have been and continue to be just too much on me. I have kept her going for the sake of our great employees and the community. Anyone who knows me, knows that I hate closed doors. We will continue to offer the best food we can produce as well as the best service until our last day. We will continue Honky Tonk Thursdays every Thursday at 8pm until the doors are closed. Please come on down and support the employees. Enjoy some great food and make some final memories of this chapter of The Stockman. I am working diligently to make sure all of our employees are not without a job, so I am aiding them with their next employment. We are also making sure that anyone that was in our housing continues to have a home. My staff and I are thoroughly grateful for all of the support we have had from the community over the past years.

According to the Livingston Enterprise, the Stockman was listed for sale earlier this year. The closure marks the end of an era for Livingston. Its absence will undoubtedly be felt by the community, and the future of the building remains uncertain.
