Madison river

The first fishing restrictions were put in place just over a week ago. With continued hot temperatures, the number of restrictions has increased, here is a look at current restrictions and closures in Southwest Montana.

The mortalities include about 814 whitefish, 11 brown trout, 6 rainbow trout, and three suckers.

After postponing discussions on efforts to ease crowding on the Madison River, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is now announcing an August 13th meeting.
