Montana's last surviving Pearl Harbor veteran passed away this past Spring in Anaconda, MT. Charlie Dowd, was just 17 years old the day he was awoken by the sound of the Japanese attacks.
He was just a 17-year-old radioman at Pearl Harbor when the bombs started falling. Charlie Dowd retired to Anaconda in his 60s in 1984 and was a true hero, earning two Bronze Stars for his efforts in Hawaii.
