They got their start in Livingston and then moved their production to Billings in the 1950's...here's the big news for the legendary Wilcoxson's ice cream.

Few foods are as popular in Billings as Wilcoxson’s Ice Cream – it is a beloved Montana institution. So it is understandable that the company’s new major shareholder, Neil Schultz, Bozeman, says he is dedicated to making sure the company remains a Montana company and that he has no plans to change the time-tested recipes or production processes. Former company CEO, Matt Schaeffer, remains a minority shareholder. Founded in Livingston, in 1912 by Carl Wilcoxson, the company has a production branch in Billings since the 1950s at 114 N 19th Street, which is where they make Wilcoxson’s Ice Cream Bars, Ice Cream Sandwiches and the Fudge Bar. It’s been in operation since the 50s.

Evelyn joins us every Monday morning for our "Back to Business" segment, and this week we talked about the irresistible Wilcoxson's ice cream, and how great it is to keep this as a Montana company.

Evelyn Pyburn: "There's few things that perks up people's interest than Wilcoxson's Ice Cream...there is a manufacturing plant here in Billings where they make Wilcoxson's ice Cream bars, ice cream sandwiches, and the fudge bar. I've heard some incredible stories of people having Wilcoxson's Ice Cream sent to them, you know, flew cross country, or parents saying they visited their college student and their one order was to bring them a box of fudge bars and, I mean, people love their Wilcoxson's Ice Cream in Montana. So this is a pretty big story. It's 112 year old business, and I think that speaks volumes for how good the ice cream is and how well they have done."
