With it being an election year, the topic of the border and refugees is on the top of every politicians mind.
There are plenty of reasons refugees look to America as the land of milk and honey when fleeing their home country for various reasons.

How Many Refugees Are Coming To America?
In total during the last fiscal year starting October 2022 and running to September 2023, 60,000 refugees arrived in the United States.
The biggest talking point when it comes to refugees and immigrants are those coming across the southern border between Mexico and America.
Because of their location two states lead the nation in total numbers of refugees taken in during June 2024, Texas (619) at number one and California (370) at number two.

Where Does Montana Rank For Refugees In America?
Since Montana is about as far away from the southern border as you can be, we will never match the totals that Texas or California reach.
In fact we only had 14 total refugees during the same June time period, but we've had quite a few since October 2023, which was the start of the new fiscal year.
While the past two administrations have had different approaches to accepting refugees, we hope those that have made their way to the Treasure State have found it welcoming.
That in my opinion is what makes Montana the "Last Best Place" we may have differences but we band together and help our neighbors when help is needed.
