
Montana FWP Seeks Information on Pictograph Vandalism
Even during the holidays, criminals can find a way to dampen the spirit of the season with their antics. And now, just before the day the big guy will arrive, a Grinch has defaced a popular Montana State Park.
The Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks in Region 3 have announced the discovery of graffiti in the Missouri Headwaters State Park, located near the small town of Three Forks, Montana.

Montana FWP Seeks Information on Pictograph Vandalism
MFWP reports that the graffiti was discovered earlier this month of December and "that it contains a visible pictograph consisting of a human figure in solid red."

After the vandalism was found, an assessment of the damage was done, and it was determined that:
the vandalism indicates a person likely used a paintbrush to paint over a portion of the existing pictograph and made about 10 markings in other areas of the limestone panel. This may have also damaged other pictographs at the site that are not readily visible.
MFWP Asking the Public for Help in Solving Vandalism at State Park
The Missouri Breaks State Park is known as a "culturally sensitive site, and the surrounding area have ties to many different groups of indigenous peoples dating back thousands of years." The area was also known as a stop for the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
MFWP is asking for any information to be submitted at the Tip Montana website, accessible here. Tipsters can also contact a game warden to supply information. You may also be eligible for an up to $1000 reward.
