It was another incredibly successful year for the Bitterroot Celtic Games and Gathering, which celebrated its 17th year in Hamilton this past weekend.

A Beautiful Day for a Gathering

Saturday was especially busy, with thousands of people making their way to the event. The weather cooperated, and thankfully, the smoke cleared out, making it a beautiful day to enjoy everything the Celtic Gathering had to offer.

There was heavy rain and a thunderstorm on Saturday evening, I've never been so wet in a kilt in my life. But by Sunday, you couldn't tell there was a storm at all.

Clans and Pipe Bands Unite

There were clans from all over the Northwest, along with multiple pipe bands representing communities throughout the region.

Pipe bands traveled from Boise, Coeur d' Alene and Moscow, Idaho, Billings and Great Falls, Montana, and the Tri-Cities and Spokane, Washington, among others.

Showcasing Strength: The Heavyweight Games

There were also athletes from across the Northwest competing in the heavyweight games, showing off the incredible strength and skill that have become such a big part of the Celtic Games.

Then there were vendors.

There was something for just about everyone, from food and jewelry to clothing and Celtic merchandise. Some were traditional, while other vendors offered a more modern take on Celtic culture.

Music: The Heartbeat of the Celtic Gathering

Of course, you couldn't have a Celtic gathering without plenty of music.

There was music happening throughout the entire two-day event. The pipe bands performed demonstrations and concerts, while the big stage under the tent featured live bands throughout the weekend.

A couple of the highlights were the Katie Jane Band, and Tempest, who got the crowd going.

A Celebration of Heritage and Community

It was one of those weekends that reminded you just how much people enjoy getting together, listening to music, celebrating their heritage, and simply having a great time.

The organizers will probably take a little time to catch their breath after another busy weekend. Then, before long, they'll be right back to work planning next year's event.

Mark Your Calendars for Next Year
