Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter Moves to New Home in Billings
If you love a good fresh start and have a soft spot for animals, this one’s going to make you smile.
A Fresh Start for YVAS and the Animals We Love
After four long months of being spread out and displaced, Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter is finally coming back together under one roof. And not just any roof. A bigger, more stable home off Jellison Road that gives the shelter room to breathe, grow, and better care for the animals who count on them every single day. It’s one of those moments that feels hopeful in the best possible way.

Why This Move Matters So Much
Since September, staff, volunteers, the medical team, and the animals themselves have been working across different locations. That’s tough on people and even tougher on animals who thrive on routine and calm. This move brings everyone back together again, which means quicker care, smoother communication, and less stress for the pets waiting for their forever homes. It’s a huge step forward for the shelter and for every wagging tail and curious whisker inside it.
Here’s Where You Come In
Big moves don’t happen without a little community muscle. YVAS is calling on neighbors, animal lovers, and anyone who wants to help make this transition a success. Volunteers are needed on Saturday, January 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to help move supplies from the former Lionheart location to the new shelter. It’s hands-on help that makes an immediate difference.
What to Know Before You Head Out
Volunteers should meet at 6400 Frontage Road to get started. And beginning January 10, all Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter operations will officially be located at 5056 Jellison Road in Billings. This is the start of a brand new chapter, and it’s happening right here in our community.

This Chapter Is Only Possible Because of You
Whether you’re showing up to carry boxes, opening your home to foster, adopting a new best friend, or supporting the shelter through donations, you’re part of this story. YVAS doesn’t do this work alone, and this move is proof of what happens when a community shows up with heart.
