Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On October 25, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m., a Missoula County Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling the area of Hellgate Trading Post. The deputy observed a vehicle parked with the engine running, backed into the storage units next to the Trading Post. The deputy was aware that there had been storage unit break-ins occurring in the county, and it was not normal for a vehicle to be parked at the storage unit at this time.

The deputy checked in on the vehicle. The deputy ran the license plate and learned through dispatch that the vehicle was involved in a moving violation at 2:22 a.m. It was reported that a male was driving the vehicle, swerving on the road, and passed out behind the wheel.

The deputy approached the vehicle and observed it running with a male lying in the backseat. The deputy woke the male, later identified as Charles Warren. Warren said that he was not driving and his friend must have left him. The deputy observed that Warren had watery and bloodshot eyes, slurred/slowed speech, and smelled strongly of alcohol. The deputy contacted the friend, who said he was in Kalispell and that Warren had the vehicle.

The deputy brought this information to Warren, who acknowledged he lied. Warren said he was intoxicated and pulled over because he was unsafe to drive. Warren said he was drinking at bars before driving to the storage facility.

The deputy had Warren conduct the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Warren indicated 12 out of 18 clues of impairment. Warren agreed to provide a sample, which resulted in a .198 BAC. Then Warren was arrested and transported to jail.

The deputy learned that Warren has two prior DUI convictions out of California and one out of Flathead County from 2025. The deputy also determined that Warren was currently on felony supervision. The on-call probation officer was contacted and requested a hold on Warren.

Given Warren was on felony supervision at the time he committed this offense and the inherent danger of drunk driving, the State requested the Court set bail in the amount of $25,000. According to the jail roster, Warren's bond was set at $10,000. Warren is currently being charged with felony DUI, fourth offense.
