
Wanted Man Caught With Drugs at a Missoula Casino
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) At approximately 3:36 a.m. on August 31, 2026, a Missoula Police Department officer observed a vehicle near the intersection of Mullan Rd. and Reserve St., which he knew to be associated with 35-year-old William Hoeffel. The officer was aware that Hoeffel had an outstanding Justice Court warrant at that time.
The officer observed the vehicle enter the parking lot of the Magic Diamond Casino. The officer and a corporal ultimately located and arrested Hoeffel within the Magic Diamond Casino pursuant to the warrant.
During the arrest, the corporal located a small, light colored, closed container within Hoeffel’s shirt pocket. The corporal asked Hoeffel if he would mind if he opened it, and Hoeffel stated he would mind. The container was placed with Hoeffel’s property without being opened at that time.

Detention staff later notified the officer that the container contained a substance which, on observation, appeared to the officer to be consistent with methamphetamine. The officer later analyzed the substance and determined that the weight of the substance, not including the container itself, was approximately 0.30 grams. A Tru Narc instrument detected the presence of methamphetamine when analyzing the substance.
Hoeffel is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
