We hear a lot of talk about electric vehicles, and how some of them aren't really suitable for Montana's climate. Tesla is credited for starting the EV trend, but more mainstream vehicle manufacturers have decided to get into the EV game, what does the future in Montana look like?

Montana is full of rough terrain and is considered truck country. Many places in the state are only accessible with 4-wheel drive. Last year, we put together a list of the top 5 most popular truck brands in Montana. The Ford F-150 is the most popular truck in Montana, but the RAM isn't far behind.

Ford has announced plans for a highly anticipated all-electric F-150 Lightning which features 580 horsepower. Ram Trucks unveiled the Ram 1500 Revolution battery-electric vehicle (BEV) Concept at CES 2023 last week. As of right now, it's just a concept, but the Ram 1500 BEV production model is expected in 2024. Ram Trucks has plans for several other EV truck models as well.

With many of the major auto manufacturers in America announcing plans for EV models in the near future, will we soon see them roaming the backroads of Montana?

Some people will tell you that temperatures during the winter in Montana are too cold for electric vehicles to function properly, but that isn't necessarily true. When temperatures dropped well below zero in December, I saw a Tesla driving down 7th Ave. in Bozeman, and it didn't seem to be having any problem at all.

Will Montanans still buy as many RAM trucks once they go all-electric? We'll have to wait and see.
