We know Helena and Three Forks, Montana will be watching the NFR this year. Check out the rankings when it comes to the Top 15 Montana cowboys and cowgirls qualifying for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Rodeo Billings shared a great graphic highlighting the Montanans in the Top 15 (pending an official audit of the results, of course). Becky Hiller with Rodeo Billings joined us on the radio Friday to talk about some of the familiar names- and some of the first time qualifiers, including #2 in the world...Helena, Montana's Sam Petersen.
Becky Hillier: "We were watching really closely, two folks from Montana, two professional rodeo athletes, Sam Peterson from Helena, who's just 22 years old, and Tayla Moeykens from Three Forks. Tayla was a standout on the MSU rodeo team for years, and now she's really making a name for herself in the professional rodeo world.
This is the first time both of them will qualify for the NFR.
Becky Hillier: "And then with Tayla in the very competitive world of barrel racing, she finished 10th in the world. So she is 10th in the world standings in barrel racing. She rode her heart out. Went to 87 rodeos in the 2025 season."
