More Western Montana Schools Closed Friday Because of Bad Weather
Updated: Thursday 1/6/21 at 9:40 PM
Kids today have it so easy. They'll never know the pain of watching the information scroll across the bottom of a tv screen to find out if school has been delayed or closed because of the snow. Back in the day, it was a lesson in patience that you would eagerly participate in while hoping the result would be the ultimate prize of no school for the day! Oh man, it was the worst if you weren't paying attention and you missed your school's name. You would have to start over and sit through it all again! But the days of having a computer in the palm of your hand means instant information when it comes to school closures. The times may have changed but the result of a snow day is the same, a bonus day of sweet freedom!
It just keeps snowing!
It's been a crazy couple of days when it comes to snow in western Montana. I grew up in Seattle and everybody is a weenie there when it comes to the white stuff. To be fair, we didn't get crazy snow days very often. But if we ever had as much snow as Missoula had this morning, school would have for sure been canceled. With today's additional snowfall I've been keeping my eye on the list of school closures to see if Missoula County Public Schools would make an early announcement about the plans for Friday.
My daughter has never had a snow day for school and she's been pretty excited about the idea of being able to stay home. I'm secretly rooting for the district to throw in the towel, close for Friday, and let everyone have a three-day weekend.
No word on MCPS at the time of writing this but there are plenty of other closures
