The Foo Fighters make their Return To Montana
The 2023 Wildlands Festival in Big Sky Montana has announced the lineup for their August event.
This year’s Wildlands Festival will be the largest fundraising event to be held in support of river conservation in U.S. history. A portion of ticket proceeds benefiting America Rivers and Gallatin River Task Force (GRTF) charities.
The event will get underway with a ‘Hooked on the Gallatin’ fundraiser dinner on August 4th, and then they get into the two nights of music August 5th and 6th.
Saturday, August 5th will be the first night of music in the 5000-person Big Sky Events Arena. The evening will get underway with Regina Ferguson. Regina grew up in the Carolinas and cultivated her craft on the stage at an early age. She packed up and took off for Los Angeles to grow her brand of western music and continues to grow a rabid fanbase.
James McMurtry will take to the stage next. James is an incredibly accomplished singer/songwriter/ guitarist, who has brought his brand of Americana from coast to coast for over 3 decades.
The headliner on Saturday will be Lord Huron. The last time I had a chance to see Lord Huron, they described their hit at the time “The night we met” as ‘music to make out to’. I almost feel that is how we should bill their style of music, period. It’s rock, it’s Americana, it’s damn good.
Sunday’s concert will be kickstarted by Taipei Houston. The band features Myles and Layne Ulrich, the sons of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich. Taipei Houston released their debut album last summer.
The Breeders will take to the stage Sunday evening. If you are in your 40s… to 50s, you remember the impact The Breeders had on you. The single ‘Cannonball’ hit the music world, well, like a cannonball. It was part of the grunge era, but not. It was- and is- amazing.
The Headliner for the entire weekend will be the Foo Fighters. The Foo were scheduled to play at Big Sky August 10, 2022, before the passing of legendary drummer Taylor Hawkins. Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters have won a staggering 15 GRAMMYs, including 5 Best Rock Album awards. The Foo Fighters continue to make it known that they are one of the best live bands around. If you have seen them, you know that to be true.
You can register in the Ticket Request system HERE. This is a small venue and will sell out fast, so the festival is trying to give everyone a shot at tickets. There is a cap of 4 tickets per person. Requests to purchase tickets must be in by May 8, 2023 at 5 pm MT.
