UPDATE--- Sunday, November 15 12:30 p.m.

The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the two passengers inside the vehicle that crashed through the guardrail and into the Clark Fork River on I-90 near Bonner on Saturday night died in the incident.

Sheriff’s Officer Public Information Officer Jeannette Smith provided the following details.

The Sheriff and Coroner, TJ McDermott, is releasing the names of two people that died last night in a vehicle crash on I-90 between Bonner and East Missoula. The deceased have been identified as 42-year-old Jason E. Brandle and 5-year-old Abel Hamlin, both of Helena, MT.  A third person in the vehicle was transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital and is currently in stable condition.  Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

A vehicle crashed into the Clark Fork River on Saturday evening.

The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jeannette Smith was on the scene and provided the following details about the accident.

“The accident occurred between mile markers 109 and 110,” said Smith. “What we know at this time is that there were three individuals in the vehicle. One made it out of the vehicle and two have been transported to St. Patrick Hospital.”

Smith said several agencies raced to the scene to assist in the rescue effort.

“We would like to recognize that Missoula Rural Fire took the lead in the search and rescue effort, assisted by Missoula County Search and Rescue.”

Smith said a nearby resident phoned in the report to 9-1-1 at 7:53 p.m..

There is no word yet on the ages and genders of the two individuals who were transported to St. Patrick Hospital.

The Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
