Alright, get ready for a couple of potentially unpopular opinions. Tis the season.

Yes, tis the season where everybody has to try and overhype a game that, in Montana, needs no hype whatsoever.

I was in Missoula getting ready for the Montana Farm Bureau convention this morning...listening to Fox & Friends...reading Montana news and that's what set me on a couple early morning, random start rants. Fox & Friends had a segment about the Elf on the Shelf, which is a holiday tradition for many folks (not in my Scandinavian family when I was growing up at least). And then I was reading all the news on the upcoming Cat-Griz game and all of these journalists calling it the Brawl of the Wild.

Maybe it's just me but I find the whole elf on a shelf thing just creepy. Who wants that little guy staring over their shoulder in random places throughout the month? Tim in Savage agreed.

And when it comes to the people calling the Cat Griz game "the Brawl of the Wild"...again- tis the season with the Montana State Bobcats and the Montana Grizzlies playing the big rivalry football game in Missoula later this week...but please stop with the nonstop "Brawl of the Wild" stuff. As Tim in Savage pointed out, the game is big enough it doesn't need the extra hype.

As I wrote last year about this time: Is anyone else annoyed every time they hear the Cat-Griz game referred to as "the Brawl of the Wild?" It is called the Cat-Griz game. It's not some organic, fair trade coffee brand. It's a football game. Why do people feel like they need to try and be so poetic about it?

(And I went to UM, so spare me the Griz-Cat lecture too...ha)
