Butte, Montana. It's the first thing that came to mind when I saw this Truth Social post from President Trump about copper.

And yes, you can add White Sulphur Springs and the Black Butte Copper Project into the mix as well.

Earlier this week, President Trump was posting about the need to get the Keystone XL Pipeline up and running...now this when it comes to American copper:

President Trump: "Like our Steel and Aluminum Industries, our Great American Copper Industry has been decimated by global actors attacking our domestic production. To build back our Copper Industry, I have requested my Secretary of Commerce and USTR to study Copper Imports, and end Unfair Trade putting Americans out of work. Tariffs will help build back our American Copper Industry, and strengthen our National Defense. American Industries depend on Copper, and it should be MADE IN AMERICA - No exemptions, no exceptions! America First creates American jobs, and protects our National Security. It’s time for Copper to 'come home.”

Speaking of Trump and Butte...that got me wondering...how did President Trump do in the historically Democrat stronghold of Butte/Silver Bow this election?

I had to ask Mr. Numbers himself- Montana's own Evan Wilson, a prominent pollster with Peak Insights. Evan tells us that the Democrats carried Butte/ Silver Bow by 13.7 points in 2016, 14.1 points in 2020....as for 2024: Trump cut the Dems margin in half with 45% of the vote. Evan added, "Trump's showing in Butte last November was the best Republican performance by a presidential candidate since 1956 and Dwight Eisenhower. 68 years."

Thankfully, a new copper mine in White Sulphur Springs, Montana will be up and running soon. But think about this- had it not been for liberal judges pandering to the radical environmentalists, that mine would already be up and running.

Governor Greg Gianforte (R-MT) heralded the Black Butte Copper Mine when he joined us Monday on the radio.

Gov. Gianforte: "I will say that the Black Butte mining permit for the project in White Sulphur Springs- our administration issued that permit through DEQ. We've gotten through the court challenges. They're moving ahead. That's the first mine permitted in Montana in over 30 years. So, boy, it's hard to get that old engine started back up, but it's turned over. We're looking at other projects as well, but these mining companies need certainty. They're making investments for decades, and it can't be that- hey, we like natural resources, but they don't know what's going to happen in four years. So we had extensive conversations when we were back in Washington."
