Montana Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) is calling on all of the 2024 Republican presidential contenders to drop out of the race and unite behind former President Donald Trump.

Senator Daines is now in a leading position on Capitol Hill as head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC). He's tasked with taking back the US Senate for the GOP.

After former Vice President Mike Pence announced that he was dropping out of the presidential race over the weekend, Senator Daines was quoted by Politico saying that now is the time for all of the other candidates to drop out too.

Senator Daines: Because it’s clear President Trump is going to be the nominee for Republicans for president, and the sooner we coalesce around him the better it’s going to be.

Here's the story from Breitbart News:

Breitbart News added this about the significance behind Daines doing more than just endorsing Trump, saying that this "is an even bigger move than just endorsing Trump. It’s a party heavyweight aiming to steer the conversation towards what almost everyone believes to be inevitable..."

Here's some of the reactions I am already getting after sharing the story via X.com (Twitter).

John Jackson, the Joker from Twitter, is clearly backing Trump.

The only reason those other candidates are in is they're being bankrolled to throw tomatoes at Trump.

Cheryl in Bozeman offered another take. Here's part of her comments on Twitter:

I’m super disappointed. We don’t anoint our rulers. Trump needs to allow the next generation a chance to clean up the mess of this USA
