Downing Secures Early Trump Endorsement in MT’s Eastern District

In case you missed it over the weekend, Congressman Troy Downing (R-MT02) secured President Trump's early endorsement ahead of the 2026 elections.

Downing faces his first re-election campaign next year, and a Trump endorsement is a huge way to avoid a significant primary challenger.

Rep. Downing joined us in studio during Freedom Friday with George Blackard, giving us an early read-out following the successful passage of the Trump-backed "Big, Beautiful Bill."

Rep. Downing: "Speaker Johnson, Leader Scalise, Majority Whip Emmer. I mean, they just did yeoman's work in getting this across. And it's not easy, you know, we had to get this through. This is our one chance. You know, this is an historic opportunity to be able to do this through reconciliation, because you need to have- you have to have the trifecta to be able to get this done. This is the only way we can get it done without requiring the 60 votes in the Senate. And of course, you've got people on every side of the conference that all want different things, and we needed to get a win on the board. We were facing the biggest tax increase in US history if we didn't get this- if we didn't pull this off. And thank God we did."
