Think about how popular college rodeo is here in Montana...I think getting shooting sports back up and running on our college campuses would also be very popular.

Good news on that front- Gary Marbut, the President of the Montana Shooting Sports Association tells us that SJ 7, a joint resolution of the Montana Senate and the Montana House urging the university system to support collegiate shooting sports in the Montana University System has already passed both the House and the Senate. Gary shared that update back on February 19th.

Montana's Attorney General Austin Knudsen has been a "gun guy" since he was a kid on their Northeast Montana ranch, and is a big fan of getting shooting sports up and running again.

Here's what the AG told me last week:

AG Knudsen: "This is a huge deal around the rest of the country, and I really didn't realize that untilI started spending some time in the in the southeast. You get down around Alabama, Florida, Georgia, but some of the Big 10 schools- they've got college trap teams, they've got college skeet teams. Shotgun sports are a huge deal in some of these schools. They travel all over, they compete, they give scholarships. And this is unheard of in Montana. We don't have anything like this, but I'm telling you, Aaron, it's a big deal down there. I know a lot of people, a lot of friends down there whose kids, you know, as an eighth grade or even freshman shooter are already being scouted by some of these big colleges to come shoot for them. This is awesome. What an opportunity for Montana kids, because I'm going to tell you, I know we can out shoot just about every other state in the union. So Gary's a good friend. I think he's right on this one. This, this is a great idea. We should have done it a long time ago, and this is something that would be a huge boon for Montana kids."
