Montana Radio Host Gets “Shot” at SHOT Show in Vegas
It's OK...you can laugh...it was just a simulator.
The guys that set up Media Row with radio hosts and podcasters from all over the country kept telling me: you need to get shot. You need to try this. So, of course, the Marty McFly in most of us Montana guys says that you can't chicken out.
Friday, in one of our finals segments from the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Tim Pearce dropped by. He's a former Los Angeles Police Department gang officer and gang detective who started a company called Accuracy Under Fire (AUFIRE).
While I'm in the middle of a short commercial break, he basically has me apply some lubrication to my bicep and forearm, and then put on this sleeve with wires coming out of it that stretches from my shoulder to my wrist.
We got the conversation going LIVE on the radio, and then all of a sudden- without warning- ZAP...WHOA! My arm freezes up and my wrist curls up. I can't control my arm.
The simulator is to simulate the immobility that would result from a gunshot wound. It's basically a virtual reality gunshot wound simulator, which demonstrates the importance of training for real-life scenarios. You're in a firefight, and you lose mobility in your right arm- how do you now return fire with your left hand, while also feeling the shock in your shooting arm?
Here's the video of the first couple minutes of our back and forth (Full audio is below in the podcast):
Click here to contact AUFIRE if you'd like to inquire about bringing their training device to one of your upcoming events.
We did 3 days of LIVE radio shows (4 hours a day) from the SHOT Show in Vegas with @pvtjokerus from X as our sidekick. Here's the full audio from all 3 days:
