Montana Sheriff’s No BS Plan for School Safety, Every School Safe
They want to bash prayer, and they want to take away your ability to defend yourself and your kids. They never actually want to talk school safety and school security.
We caught up with a Montana Sheriff who actually IS focused on school safety, and has one of the most comprehensive programs in the country.
ICYMI- Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter joined us Friday morning on the radio. This following the sickening shooting of Catholic school kids by a transgender shooting suspect.
Sheriff Slaughter criticized the focus on gun control and mental health issues, arguing that the solution lies in armed, trained professionals in schools. He also highlighted a direct notification system that bypasses dispatch, emphasizing the need for immediate response.
Sheriff Slaughter: "We protect money with armored vehicles, guys with rifles and plate carriers, we build these giant Fort Knox's and all these places to store money. And the message we're sending to our children is this- is like we value money more than we value you, and that is not who our country is, and we need to change that."
When Sheriff Slaughter and I first talked about this program a few years ago, the obvious answer is: why not have good guys with guns in the schools to stop bad guys with guns? And we're not just talking about sheriff's deputies that are visibly carrying guns, where it is obvious who the good guy with the gun is because then you've just made that guy a target for the bad guy with a gun. So you need to have a more covert plan than just that. But then on top of that, hey- why don't we integrate that plan in with locked doors and security cameras and with an immediate notification plan.
Sheriff Slaughter and his team have integrated these elements and more.
Sheriff Slaughter: "Yes, all those elements. We have an application that rolls out to every single school that we have in our district. And it is an immediate notification plan. It bypasses dispatch. It goes direct from a school teacher's desk or phone direct to law enforcement for an instant."
