We’re Off to Libby, Montana for Some Big Events Tues & Wed
Great news for Libby and Northwest Montana- the federal government has greenlighted the exploratory effort for a proposed copper and silver mine. We'll be heading to Libby on Tuesday for a Charlie Kirk event, and then hosting our statewide radio show LIVE from Libby on Wednesday AM.
First, the big news. As the Lee Newspapers reports, a project to look at a potential copper and silver mine has been approved by the U.S. Forest Service: Feds green-light exploratory copper and silver mining project in Libby
The Libby Exploratory Project was proposed by mining company Hecla, after it acquired the claim previously known as the Montanore Mine. The Idaho-based company estimates up to 1.5 billion pounds of copper and 183 million ounces of silver could lay underneath an area about 20 miles south of Libby.
This is great news for the people of Lincoln County. As we talked about earlier this summer, the decimation of the mining and timber industries have made it harder for local folks to find high wage jobs. (For more insight- read this: Love INC and Why We Need Mining and Logging in Libby, Montana)
We will be headed to Libby later this week.
Tuesday night, October 14th- Charlie Kirk's birthday...the community of Libby is rallying around Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA with a celebration of life on what would have been the TPUSA founder's birthday.
The full details from Alyssa Wanders are further down in this article, but here's the main details for the event:
Wednesday morning, we will be broadcasting LIVE from Libby with our statewide radio show- Montana Talks with Aaron Flint.
