Montana Taxpayers Funded Crazy Woke Agenda at Teachers Conference
I had a tipster tell me a while back that they sat in on the teachers conference put on by the Montana Federation of Public Employees (MFPE), and you wouldn't believe the crazy, woke agenda they were pushing on the teachers.
That's why the moment I saw this new report get released by the Freedom Foundation, I knew we had to get the author on the microphone with us.
Here's the report: Montana taxpayers foot the bill for woke politics at teachers union conference
The report dives into a conference put on back in October in Bozeman, right before the big November elections here in Montana.
As the Freedom Foundation's Max Nelson tells us, "at least seven presentations were specifically focused on electoral politics and lobbying, even including presentations by union-endorsed candidates for office. Other panels covered the whole gamut of woke issues du jour including, but not limited to: “historical activism,” countering purported “book banning,” “EcoSchools,” “equity training,” promoting “LGBTQ+ issues,” fighting “microaggression at the workplace,” “indigenous pedagogy,” and implementing “diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) trainings.”
How Montana Taxpayers Are Funding this Woke Agenda to Indoctrinate Teachers
From the Freedom Foundation: "More disturbing than the content of the MFPE conference programming is the fact that Montana taxpayers had to foot the bill for educators to attend the union’s indoctrination. For decades, Montana law has required school districts to 'close the schools…for the annual instructional and professional development meetings of teachers’ organizations.' Not only may teachers attend such meetings 'without loss of salary,' but teachers who do not attend 'may not be paid.'
Max Nelson joined us on the radio Friday to talk about the report. He says the MFPE teachers conference ran the gamut of the woke ideology being pushed on Montana teachers.
Max Nelson: "All the buzz words, all the woke buzz words, found their way into some or other of these presentations. There was one focused on teaching about the Middle East. The event was billed as being presented by Montana's only high school Arabic teacher. And I don't know what was said in that particular session, but we looked up the gentleman who was presenting- outspoken, progressive, Anti-Israel activist. He's described President Trump as, quote, a demon from hell. He's described Governor Gianforte as, quote, a filthy creep. He's written that patriotism is a disease and condemned America as a military colonial state. All the crazy stuff."
But wait, there's more...
Max Nelson: "There were presentations from the quote, unquote, Extreme History Project of Bozeman, which describes itself essentially as a neo Marxist historical activist organization, which is actively engaged in, quote, political, social revolutionary paradigm shifts. There were presentations from academics- folks like women's studies professors who are promoting things like, quote, unquote, diverse children's literature that featured LGBTQ plus characters and themes and advise teachers on ways to work around Montana law passed in 2021 about giving parents advanced notice of the content of sex ed instruction and the ability to opt their children out. I mean, this is absolutely, this is what you would expect in San Francisco or Seattle, not what you would expect in Montana. And the list goes on. It's really, it's really incredible."
