Montana Teacher’s Conference Exposed, Superintendent Weighs In
Montana's Superintendent of Public Instruction sent a "dear colleague" letter out to school superintendents across the state Tuesday night. This, after reports surfaced showing what went on at last week's teacher union conference in Missoula.
As we told you earlier this week, Finley Warden- who grew up in public schools in Missoula- attended the MFPE Educator's Conference last week in Missoula. He documented how presenters at the teachers union conference were instructing others on how to lie to parents and how to go around state law.
"A middle school librarian brags about adding a book with sexual content to her school library. The book was once removed from the library but she describes how she brought it back." That's just one of the newly released audio clips that Finley shared this week detailing what he heard at the conference. His posts are now getting national attention from LibsOfTikTok and investigative reporter Andy Ngo.
Superintendent Hedalen joined us on Tuesday's Montana Talks statewide radio show to talk about the letter she sent to superintendents, and her reaction to what was included in last week's MFPE conference:
Supt Hedalen: "School is a place for learning, not a place for indoctrination. And the kind of things happening at these teacher days are a prime of example of why families are losing trust in public school. So we need to be transparent. We need to get education back to the basics, and we need to include parents in what we're teaching in schools."
She also reminded schools that they could lose federal and/or state funding if they are not in compliance with the law. She also says her office is looking into revoking the ability for MFPE to provide professional development credits for their conferences.
By the way- I said it on Monday, and will reiterate it here: open invite for MFPE to join us on the show as well.
