President Trump's pick to lead NASA has an incredible background, and a very cool Montana connection.

Jared Isaacman, featured in the photo above, was selected by President Trump to serve as Administrator of NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Most recently he served as the mission commander for the SpaceX Polaris Dawn crew that conducted the first ever commercial space walk.

It looks his confirmation hearing in the US Senate takes place next week.

Isaacman did very well in the private sector and ended up building his own commercial fleet of fighter jets before literally launching into space.

I talked with Kidd about how they trained for the Polaris Dawn mission in Bozeman, Montana. Why Bozeman? Isaacman has a hangar full of some badass fighter jets at the airport in Belgrade. How cool is that?

After the news was announced that Isaacman was selected by Trump to be the NASA Administrator, the man who just viewed our planet from space said he is "passionate about America leading the most incredible adventure in human history."

Isaacman: "On my last mission to space, my crew and I traveled farther from Earth than anyone in over half a century. I can confidently say this second space age has only just begun. Space holds unparalleled potential for breakthroughs in manufacturing, biotechnology, mining, and perhaps even pathways to new sources of energy. There will inevitably be a thriving space economy—one that will create opportunities for countless people to live and work in space. At NASA, we will passionately pursue these possibilities and usher in an era where humanity becomes a true spacefaring civilization."

The International Space Station

Initially constructed in 1998, the International Space Station (ISS) is approximately 250 miles above the earth's surface, traveling at 17,500 mph. The ISS orbits Earth every 90 minutes and completes around 15 orbits daily.
