PETA Prepping Attack on Downtown Billings Restaurants
PETA is prepping for an attack on downtown Billings restaurants Thursday. But Great Falls just SMOKED them out with massive support for a local barbecue joint after PETA's staged event Wednesday.
Earlier this week, PETA (the official group name is People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) announced that they would be staging a protest outside of the barbecue joint:
PETA: Diners on their way into SMOKED. American Barbecue and other Great Falls eateries that serve pork are in for an earful on Wednesday when “Hell on Wheels”—PETA’s hyper-realistic pig transport truck that looks as if it contains real pigs on their way to slaughter—will bombard them with actual recorded sounds of the animals’ panicked screams along with a subliminal message every 10 seconds suggesting that people go vegan.
Instead, PETA got the earful...while a whole bunch of folks got a mouthful of some tasty barbecue.
The MONTANICA! Facebook page had some great photos after PETA's event in Great Falls, Montana Wednesday. Here's part of what Billie Olson shared:
Smoked. American Barbecue customers show the love by lining up and placing their orders from City of Great Falls beloved restaurant!!!!!
Billie helped rally folks on the MONTANICA! page to support the restaurant. "The owners are fantastic folks who work hard to provide great tasting food here in Great Falls. The story will take you into the military background of the employees. Every one of them have a giving heart and truly care about every customer that walk through the door."
Tony Peres, who shared a lot of the photos above along with Jerry Daugett, says the line stretched out for an entire block. They went through 2,000 pounds of meat in about 3 1/2 hours. A lot of the county employees from the nearby office showed up as well. "Hell, we even had animal control show up and eat today!"
PETA Attacking Downtown Billings Restaurants Thursday
According to a press release from PETA, the event will take place at noon in front of Jake's Restaurant in downtown Billings. "Diners on their way into Jake's Downtown and other Billings eateries that serve pork are in for an earful on Thursday when “Hell on Wheels”—PETA’s hyper-realistic pig transport truck that looks as if it contains real pigs on their way to slaughter—will bombard them..."
