Red Lodge Tops Snobbiest Town in Montana List

Montanans like to think we're generally a pretty friendly bunch, and for the most part that seems to be true in my personal experience. However, snobbery apparently exists in the Treasure State, according to a recent survey from the folks at RoadSnacks.com. They ranked 66 towns in Montana with populations of 1,500 or more and used the following criteria to determine the snobby-ness level:

• Median home price
• Median income
• Percentage of college degrees
• Private schools per capita
• Theaters per capita
• Art galleries per capita

Of course, Big Fork, Whitefish, and Big Sky made the top 10 (not shocking), but Red Lodge was #1?! I have to disagree with their assessment. Red Lodge is one of the friendliest towns I've encountered. Every local I've ever met or interacted with in Red Lodge has been genuinely friendly and not snobby at all.

There are a couple of other "huh?" places on the list too, like Four Corners near Bozeman and the northwest Helena Valley. RoadSnacks.com admits their study was mostly in fun,

Now before you get upset and ruin your blowout or something drastic here, let’s remember that this is all in good fun. Would we live in one of these 10 places if we had the chance? Of course we would!
