Someone Missing from the Montana Delegation, “Getting the F Out”
A couple things in the news got me thinking about something this week.
First, you had outgoing Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) drop an F bomb when refusing to answer a question from a reporter about Joe Biden's pardon of Hunter. Then, I noticed a photo of nearly the entire Montana Congressional Delegation at the weekly "Montana coffee" in DC. Tester was nowhere to be seen.
Even though he lost the US Senate race in early November, he's still on the job and collecting a paycheck from we the people until the new Senate is sworn in January 3rd, 2025.
This is when you see what leaders are really made of. Everyone is going to suffer a loss at some point in their lives. It's how you react to that loss that shows your character. Politicians are no different.
Remember when Democrat Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) was campaigning for office? He pretended to care so much about veterans when it came time for the campaign commercials, even as he viciously attacked a Navy SEAL veteran he was running against. He never even thanked that same Navy SEAL and his Marine Corps veteran wife for their service and sacrifice to our country.
Give him a pass, that was his rival in what was considered the most important US Senate race in the country this past year- you might say. Ok. But what comes right after election day? Veterans Day. During campaign season, Tester would always show up at Veterans Day or Memorial Day events and toot his own horn (literally and figuratively). He'd oftentimes make the events about him and what he wanted to brag about, instead of making it about the service and sacrifice of the warriors those days are supposed to be about.
Did Tester bother to show up for any Veterans Day events this year? Or was it all an act just to get votes?
Not showing up for Montana Coffee, not showing up for Veterans Day events, not wanting to answer an uncomfortable question- it raises even more questions. Will Tester help the Crow Tribe get the "Crow Revenue Act" across the finish line before the end of the year? What about help for laid off Stillwater Miners? The State of Montana is doing their part while the feds drop the ball. Or, is Tester just dropping another F bomb and saying I'm getting outta here anyway?
Let this be another reminder for the rest of us to finish well. Run through the tape.
