Glendive is home to the Buccaneers- and check out this incredible bronze buccaneer that is about to be headed their direction.

Every year, unless I've been overseas on a deployment or something like that, I have been fortunate enough to attend the GATE Show in Glendive- the Glendive Agri Trade Expo.

The event takes place every February, and fortunately since I host a radio show- I get to be right up front near the entrance. That's where Pam Harr is located with her Bridger Bronze both featuring several of her incredible pieces of bronze art work.

Pam has already produced some incredible bronze sculptures that can be spotted throughout Glendive. Pam's latest life size feature, the buccaneer in the photo above, is in recognition of the Dawson Community College Buccaneers.

Pam Harr: "My dream has been to leave a legacy sculpture trail throughout Glendive from the college on the eastern side of town, the town itself, out north of town at the Eastern MT Vets Home, and to the western limits of Glendive at our Dawson Community Airport.  I’m not done yet. I’m toying with the idea to add a Vietnam era military memorial sculpture at our veterans park. That would be number 16 in town."

Pam tells us that the buccaneer is currently at the Kalispell Art Foundry and the crew is winding up the final welding, grinding and chasing. "In another week or so, the sandblasting and then the patina will be applied. Then it’s just a case of getting the 8’ tall pirate shipped back to Glendive."

Fisher Industries is donating the concrete foundation and will help install the sculpture.  She also received a $25,000 Montana Tourism Grant as part of the funds raised for this project.

Another fun fact on the above sculpture, according to Pam: "The coins in and around the treasure chest contain the names of the more than 160 community members, students, and businesses that donated the $173,000 to make this possible.
