Trump’s Coming Back, the Latest on Keystone Pipeline in Montana

With President Trump heading back to the White House in January, will they get back to work on getting the Keystone XL Pipeline up and running? Remember, there were estimates that would bring in upwards of $100 million a year into Eastern Montana.

When I first heard rumors that the Keystone XL Pipeline could get back up and running again, I was initially skeptical. Sure, we all want to see it up and running- but the Canadians already built a pipeline to the West Coast of Canada in place of Keystone, and the company that was pushing the project has already moved on after it was killed by Biden.

I remember getting a phone call from one of our radio listeners near Malta shortly after Biden killed the Keystone Pipeline, and the Democrat-controlled Senate refused to force the project across the finish line. The listener told me he was watching from out his own front window as the company tore out the pipe that had already been laid in the ground. What a punch in the gut for Eastern Montana. They could have used that money.

Now, following the huge win in the November elections, Politico is reporting that "Donald Trump is looking to revive the Keystone XL oil pipeline on his first day back in the White House, according to three people familiar with the president-elect’s plan..."

I've been trying to run a few traps across the state and with some folks in the industry to see what folks are hearing. So far, I haven't heard anything concrete. But here's the deal: the world needs more energy- period. President Trump has defied the odds before, and he now comes back to Washington with a huge mandate. So if anyone can get it done, it's Donald J. Trump.
