WinCo Grocery Given Green Light in Bozeman
After a lengthy court process the Bozeman City Commissioner, Terry Cunningham, confirmed WinCo Foods grocery store has the approval to begin construction. It is expected that construction will begin in 30 to 45 days.
There is no expected opening date at this time, but this is the first step forward after the commission approved plans in 2018. After the plans were originally approved a grocery workers union and local representatives sued the city in concern of the application. Eventually, the lawsuit was thrown out according to a recent article from KBZK TV.
The store is planned to be 75,000 square feet that will be located in the Target plaza off 19th Street. They will offer bulk foods where customers can bag their own items. Now at first, that may seem confusing - and like a lot of work. But after watching the video below on "Bulk Foods 101" it seems like it might be a very different shopping experience.
WinCo Foods was founded in 1967 and is based in Boise, Idaho, The company is mainly owned by current and former employees through an employee stock ownership plan.
