Flathead Beacon Calls Out Tranel for Lying About Zinke
If there is one thing the Montana media has failed at miserably this election cycle it is their half-baked attempts at doing a "fact check." That's why I have to say how surprised I was to see the liberal-leaning Flathead Beacon actually call out a Democrat for lying about Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke (R-MT01).
The most recent example of the media doing a half-a**ed "fact check" was when a local TV station claimed that the whole race-based farm loan forgiveness deal never happened, despite being very well documented. Most of the phony fact checks from the Montana media have been in the US Senate race, as the liberal media was desperately trying to prop up liberal Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) in the midst of the surging popularity of Navy SEAL veteran Tim Sheehy (R-MT).
When it comes to Montana's Western Congressional District US House race; though, Denali Sagner filed this report for The Flathead Beacon- Flathead Beacon: Tranel Accused Zinke of ‘Illegally’ Operating a Vacation Rental. Whitefish Officials Say Otherwise.
Zinke campaign manager Heather Swift sums up the story by saying, "Whitefish City officials directly contradict Monica Tranel's ad. Officials saying the Zinkes do not operate an 'illegal' vacation rental and that the Zinke's have no 'special tax break."
To launch the attack based on false claims, Tranel even went so far as to record videos from inside one of Zinke's rental properties and in his own driveway. (Montanans don't take too kindly to that kind of invasion of personal space...even if someone is a candidate for office)
