Homeless Man Prosecuted for Antifa Threats in Flathead County
"Antifa is going to F your world. I am going to blow up the F-ing courthouse in Kalispell..."
You guys remember when the Portland mayor's house was set on fire by a self-described Antifa activist? Apparently this is the same guy.
For those who don't know, Antifa is a far Left activist group that really became known during the BLM riots of 2020.
More on that below...but first- here's the news: A homeless man with ties to Kalispell pleaded guilty to charges that he threatened to blow up the Flathead County Courthouse.
That's the news according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Montana.
U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme says Kermit “Ty” Poulson, 46, pleaded guilty to interstate communication of a threat to damage property by means of fire or explosive, which carries a maximum term of imprisonment of ten years, a potential fine of $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeff Starnes is prosecuting the case. Sentencing is now set for September 18th.
As you can see in the screenshot below (Warning: Graphic Language/NSFW), Poulson sent an e-mail from an account appearing to come from another individual in which he threatened to blow up the courthouse.
According to the US Attorney's press release, the FBI obtained subscriber information from Google for the Gmail account that was used. That led them to Poulson. "Criminal records checks show Poulson was previously the subject of an FBI investigation in Portland, Oregon. In that case, he was investigated, arrested, and convicted of threatening to set the Portland Mayor’s house on fire with Molotov cocktails. See United States v. Poulson, Case No. 3:18-CR-00622-SI-1 (D. Or. 2018). He also claimed in that case that he had ties to Antifa."
The attorney who received the initial e-mail reported it to the FBI. The attorney also "disclosed that he/she had previously represented defendant Poulson in a matter in Kalispell. The attorney recalled Poulson had a history of making similar threats."
