Hats off to Missoula City Councilwoman Sandy Vasecka. She's been the lone voice in the wilderness for quite some time now on the transient crisis in Missoula.
First Lewistown...now your town? We got an update from a couple Montana lawmakers on Monday morning. We wanted to hear the latest when it comes to a proposed warming shelter (homeless shelter) in Lewistown, Montana.
If you build it, they will come. Is the small town of Lewistown, Montana looking to build a homeless shelter similar to what has taken place in towns like Missoula and Kalispell? Apparently so. And the Mayor of Kalispell is cautioning Fergus County residents.
As the problem escalates and the debate continues about 'urban camping' across Montana, it's not very often that you can get a bird's eye view of how out of hand it's getting. How many people are squatting or 'camping' on public streets?
When I first saw this photo of the free camping sign on the RV in Bozeman, Montana- I thought it was just some meme that somebody created for the Internet. Nope, it was actually parked in Bozeman, and it was meant to deliver a very important point.
"The house, formerly the Josephine Bed and Breakfast, has been renovated to accommodate Love and SONshine’s clients—homeless teenage moms and their new babies."
When I saw the headline- Bozeman Local Shares Truth About Urban Campers in New Viral Video- I almost didn't click on the story. Turns out it wasn't just any Bozeman local- it was Montana State Bobcat football great Dane Fletcher. He used to play for the New England Patriots, but he's obviously still an American patriot who loves his country and fears for his town.
After a homeless man murdered a local gym manager in Kalispell, did the media attack the homeless advocates in the Flathead Valley? Did the media attack the politicians who oppose cracking down on the transients threatening local residents?
