How many Montanans have to get up and go to work each day just to pay for the salary and benefits of one federal employee? One of our listeners heard the answer on the radio, and wanted to find out where the info came from. Here you go.

The answer? 80 Americans. 80 Americans have to work in the private sector just to pay for one federal employee. That's what Vince Coglianese said on the radio Friday.

We are now facing a $2 trillion annual deficit that Joe Biden left for President Trump, on top of a $36 trillion deficit. Biden also massively increased the federal government employee payroll- so something has to be done.

On Monday, Scott sent us a message on our Montana Talks app asking this question:

This morning you played a sound bite about how the Biden administration had conflated employment numbers with government employees. May I have info on that sound bite please? I’d like to find it. Thank you.

If you missed, last Friday Vince Coglianese was hosting the Dan Bongino Show. Vince had an incredible breakdown of the latest jobs report.

Vince: "There are some massive changes going on that are for the better, that are good for the country. Include the fact that we are not juicing the employment numbers anymore by using federal government jobs. One of the dirty secrets of the Biden era, kept because the legacy media by and large didn't share it with you, is how dependent the employment numbers were on government jobs. They were- the government just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger as the Biden administration was trying to limit the damage of the economic headlines that they deserved. So they would use the government. They'd hire lots of people in order to pad the books and then- and that costs a lot of money."

He then quoted Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who  described how "the bottom 50% of working Americans have gotten killed." He's talking about interest rates, inflation, housing- you name it. If we want to get that under control and help working class Americans, we have to get government spending under control.

Vince also shared this soundbite from President Trump: "During the last year, the Biden administration saw a loss of more than 110,000 manufacturing jobs, or 9000 manufacturing jobs every single month, an average about 9000 a month, 110,000 manufacturing jobs during the first full month in office. We've not only stopped that manufacturing collapse collapse, but we've begun to rapidly reverse it and get major gains. We created 10,000 manufacturing jobs in February alone."

I'd add that we also need to get more mining up and running in Montana. We need to get our Stillwater Miners back to work. We have mines that we could get up and running in Libby, Montana. And we need to get our timber industry back up and running. Let's start Rockin the Bakken. If it takes 80 of us to pay for a federal employee, imagine how much more revenue a mining job would bring in?

Thanks to Westwood One for allowing us to re-air a portion of Vince's comments from the Bongino show on Friday! The audio can be heard in the 2nd half of the below podcast.
