If there's one thing I've learned about Montanans, it's that they're hardworking, resilient, and one of my favorites - competitive.

Man oh man, let me tell you. As someone who's had the opportunity to commentate on Montana sports and see the competitiveness close-up, no one wants to win or come out on top more than someone from Montana.

Presidential 1776 Award Competition: Governor Gianforte Wants to Win

In case you missed it, Governor Gianforte shared his excitement for the Presidential 1776 Award Competition, which begins on Sunday, February 22 and goes through next Saturday, February 28th.

"This year marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of our great nation and high school students across the country have an amazing opportunity to take part in a historic celebration," Governor Gianforte said in a video, "Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary McMahon, the U.S Department of Education launched the Presidential 1776 Award Competition that invites students to test their knowledge of our nation's founding principles and civic traditions."

Governor Gianforte clearly wants the State of Montana to come out on top and why wouldn't he? We're only the greatest state in the country.

"Today, I am calling on all Montana students in grades nine through twelve to sign up at Presidential1776Award.org to complete the challenge and demonstrate their understanding of American history and civics," Gianforte said, "There is no better time than now to promote a better understanding of our founding principles for all Americans."

How to Register for Presidential 1776 Award Competition

According to the site for the competition, contestants will be competing for up to "$250,000 in scholarship awards" but as Governor Gianforte said, contestants/students must be between in grades 9-12 to compete.
