UPDATE (12:43 P.M.) Malmstrom AFB has lifted the base lockdown and has returned to FPCON Bravo as of 12:39 p.m, local. A suspicious person was reported on base as an active shooter. There were no confirmed shots fired and there are no casualties or injuries reported. There is no threat to the public at this time. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing


Great Falls Police Department UPDATE (12:30 PM) - We continue to provide support outside Malmstrom Air Force Base. The incident has been contained to the base. The Shelter In Place status is being lifted for all Great Falls Public Schools except Chief Joseph and Loy elementary schools. Those two schools are in "Class Hold" status. Which means the students are remaining inside their classrooms. We are working with Great Falls Public Schools administrators and preparing a plan to release Chief Jo and Loy students, when school is over, if the incident persists. We understand the flow of information is slow. thank you for your patience.

UPDATE(11:57 A.M.) The threat was announced at 10:29 a.m. at building 219. Air Force and emergency personnel are securing the area. FPCON Delta has been implemented at approximately 10:36 a.m. due to the incident. Malmstrom officials are directing visitors and spectators to stay away from the building. Public cooperation will help protect against possible injuries and enable base agencies to more effectively deal with the situation.

Malmstrom Air Force Base Implements Lockdown Protocol in Response to Active Shooter Alert

February 15, 10:29 AM - Malmstrom Air Force Base has initiated a lockdown procedure following the activation of an active shooter alert on base. The safety and security of all personnel are their primary concern.

During this period, individuals on the base are urged to take immediate shelter in place until further notice.

Further updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
