Missoula Minor Thought She Was Going to Be Kidnapped

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On April 29, 2024, Missoula Police Department Officers were dispatched to a purported disturbance at Jane Doe’s residence. The complainant, Doe’s mother, reported to officers that she and her family were at their residence. Doe is 11 years old.

Doe heard someone banging on the front door. Believing it to be her friends, Doe opened the door. The door to their apartment is an inward-opening door. To Doe’s surprise, an unknown adult female was standing at the door. The female reached forward inside the door into the apartment, grabbed Doe by the hair, and began pulling her.

Doe’s mother and father intervened, and the female left their home. Doe’s mother then observed the female enter a blue Subaru vehicle. The woman then left the Subaru and proceeded to walk away. Doe’s parents lost sight of the female at that time. They began searching the area for the female and located her at the Pattee Creek Market.

When an officer arrived at Pattee Creek Market, Doe’s mother pointed out the female. The officer recognized the female as 54-year-old Lorenna Wood from prior contacts. The officer placed Wood into custody. In a search incident to arrest, the officer located multiple drug pipes and marijuana on Wood’s person.

Doe’s father reported that when Doe opened the door, he observed Wood reach out, grab onto his daughter’s hair, and tug her towards the door. He said Doe was screaming, “Dad help! Dad help! Stop!” Doe’s father got in between the two and separated them. Wood allegedly walked away while flipping off Doe’s father.

According to court documents, Doe reported that the situation was scary because her hair was grabbed and she was being dragged. When asked what she thought was going to happen, Doe stated, “I thought I was going to be kidnapped, honestly.” Doe reported that she had never seen Wood prior to this incident.

Wood was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility where she is currently being charged with felony burglary and felony assault on a minor. On April 30, 2024, Wood made her initial appearance in Missoula Justice Court and her bond was set at $25,000.
