Recovery Of Missing Men In Montana Brings Closure To Families
Authorities are reporting the closure of a couple of summertime tragedies this week.
In Lake County, Sheriff Don Bell says, yesterday, divers were able to recover a body from Flathead Lake, in an area north of Matterhorn Point. Given the location and other information, it's believed to be 58-year-old James Dominguez, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, who disappeared on June 15th. He'd been in a specialized rowboat that capsized when a major storm hit suddenly.
Bell says Ralston Underwater Search & Recovery used their specialized experience to make the recovery.
The deceased has been taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
Red Lodge drowning search finally over
Meanwhile, Red Lodge Fire Rescue says that they've recovered the body of a hiker who disappeared in the gorge below Rimrock Lake in early June.
23-year-old Tim Sanford was swept away in the rushing waters of Rosebud Creek, and the search has been hampered for weeks by the earlier higher water and the extremely hazardous conditions.
But this week, searchers were able to locate Sanford 1500 feet below the lake, using an aerial drone, with divers going in to make the recovery.
Red Lodge Fire Rescue Chief Tom Kuntz says the agency is grateful to bring closure for Sanford's family, after months of dedicated search operations and hundreds of hours of volunteer time.
