The countdown is on.

Whether you were born and raised in Montana, or you're a transplant, you either cheer for the Cats or Griz and it doesn't take long to figure out that the "Brawl Of The Wild" is the biggest football game of the year in the state of Montana and this year is no different.

In fact, I would suggest that this year's game might be one of the biggest games between the two schools in the last few years because there is so much on the line.

Sure, last year was a huge game as the Cats demolished the Griz in Bozeman while hosting ESPN Gameday and while it was an unbelievable experience, this year's game feels different. This year, it's all on the line.

The history of these two goes back over a century and this will be the 122nd meeting of the two.  Overall, the Griz have the edge, although the last few years has been a little more balanced.

The Cats will travel west down I-90 Missoula to take on the Griz this Saturday in front of a sold-out crowd in what will no doubt be an electric atmosphere. The Cats are 8-2 on the year while the Griz are 9-1.

The Cats lost a nail-biter to the defending National Champions South Dakota State towards the beginning of the season and another close call to Idaho a few weeks back. The Griz lost to Northern Arizona back in September, so what does that mean?

It means they both have an identical conference record and whoever wins on Saturday will not only have bragging rights for another year but will also be the Big Sky Conference Champion but will more than likely have an easier route to the National Championship game.

Game time is at noon and while it's not an "official" holiday, chances are that most Montanans will either be in front of a TV or a radio watching with intense interest.

So who do you think will win the Brawl of the Wild this Saturday? Who will hold the Great Divide Trophy up high? The Cats or the Griz? Let us know by sending us a message on our radio station app.
