Here Comes The Money ($29/$30)

The money comes after Intuit, the owners of TurboTax, tricked users into paying to file their federal tax return for a fee, rather than informing them of free options available.

Throughout the month of May, Montanans will receive checks at their addresses on file with TurboTax, with most users receiving amounts between $29 and $30.

The amount each user receives is determined by how many tax years they used services from TurboTax, and those years must qualify for the settlement.

To know if you are eligible, you would have filed federal taxes through TurboTax in 2016, 2017, and 2018... but were eligible to file for free through the IRS Free File Program.

Eligible Montanans will be notified by email by the settlement fund administrator, Rust Consulting (shown below).

Montanans will receive a check without filing any claim, automatically, and are expected to be mailed out in the next week.

What are your thoughts on this? Have you used TurboTax to file your taxes in past years? Do you still use TurboTax, or any Intuit products (Quickbooks, Mint)? Let us know on App Chat or on Facebook.
