What a campaign slogan from the Sand man- "Life's a Beach, Vote for Sand."

Remember when we told you about this beast from Glasgow, Montana playing rugby at the US Naval Academy? He just got elected class president.

Kelly Siefert with "The Buzz" in Glasgow shares the update with us:

Glasgow Montana Native and Naval Academy Midshipman, Dalton Sand, was elected President for the Graduating class of 2027, a testament to his exceptional leadership skills and dedication to his fellow Midshipmen.

Dalton Sand, son of Josh and Ronica Sand of Glasgow Montana, is a shining example of excellence, serving as a member of the 19th Company Freebirds and a dedicated member of the Men's Navy Varsity Rugby Team.

Dalton's election as the 2027 Class President, chosen amongst his class of 1200 Midshipmen, is a remarkable achievement that speaks to his outstanding character and leadership abilities. As President, Dalton will inspire and guide his fellow Midshipmen, leading events such as the youngster Luau, 2nd Class Ring Dance, Graduation ceremonies, reunions, and alumni events.

Dalton Sand embodies the true spirit of leadership, and his dedication to serving others will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on his fellow Midshipmen.

Thanks to Kelly for sharing that update with us. We first told you about Dalton Sand earlier this year, when he was still a freshman at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

He was a swim star and track athlete in high school in Montana who ended up deciding to try out for rugby.

The competition was tough, and Sand, never having played the sport before, pushed through with his determination and dedication and earned himself a spot on the Varsity team as well as the travel team. They are in the spring season, with playoffs just around the corner. Sand has earned himself a starting position on the team. Sands' position is a Hooker that throws the line-outs and is in the middle of the scrum.
