When Will We Get the Extra Tax Rebate Checks in Montana? Details

The Republican Supermajority in the Montana Legislature and Governor Greg Gianforte (R-MT) delivered over a billion dollars in tax relief and tax rebates for Montanans...so when do we get our money? Cue up Jerry Maguire and "SHOW ME THE MONEY!"

According to the Montana Department of Revenue, the tax rebates will start getting sent out in July of this year.

The Department of Revenue will begin issuing Individual Income Tax Rebates in July 2023. All Individual Income Tax Rebates must be issued by December 31, 2023.

How much will you potentially get for the income tax rebate?

• $1,250 if your 2021 Montana filing status was single, head of household, or married filing separately, and $2,500 if your 2021 Montana filing status was married filing jointly.

 What about for the property tax rebate?

• the actual amount of property tax you paid for your principal Montana residence, or
• $500.

Do I need to do anything?

No. You don’t need to do anything to claim an Individual Income Tax Rebate. The department will send your rebate to you automatically if you qualify.

With over a billion dollars in tax relief going out all across Montana, it's pretty interesting when you break it down on a county by county level.
