Former Dem Governor Schweitzer on Thursday’s “Montana Talks”
Former Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer (D-MT) was nearly a Democrat presidential candidate. Unlike the guy who followed in his footsteps, former Gov. Steve Bullock (D-MT), Schweitzer actually garnered decent national attention. He nearly ran for the US Senate in 2014.

In the past several years; though, Schweitzer has faded from the limelight- now splitting his time between Arizona and Western Montana. And Montana has swung SOLID red since the 2016, 2020, and 2022 elections.
Schweitzer recently started jumping back into the political dialogue to attack the current Republican Governor and legislative Supermajority following the more than $1 billion in tax relief that came out of the 2023 legislative session. Schweitzer is arguing that the legislature could have done more to limit property tax increases. It is worth noting that nearly every single legislative Democrat voted against property tax and income tax rebates.
