“Wings & Wheels” car and aircraft show delights large Butte crowd.
From low pass flybys to burnouts, food trucks to flight simulators and a lot of machinery on display, Saturday's Wings & Wheels car and aircraft show had a little bit of something for everyone in attendance. There was certainly quite a few people on hand on a gorgeous sunny Saturday at Bert Mooney Airport who were enjoying not only quite the car show but also several incredible aircraft on display. The car show was one of the biggest we've ever seen.
Wings & Wheels had airport heavy machinery on display. You ever wonder how big of a snowplow is needed for a runway?
It was the aircraft that stole the show, particularly “Miss Montana" from the Museum of Mountain Flying, a very rare P63 Kingcobra from the Legacy Flight Museum.
We even got to take a look inside.
Also on display and very special to Butte was a P-51D Mustang, a tribute to Butte native Holsey Johnson Jr., who gave his very life serving his country flying a Mustang over 80 years ago during World War II.
Wings & Wheels also featured a bevy of some of the area's most popular food trucks.
We had a great time and can't wait to see what Wings & Wheels brings to town next year.
