This may surprise some of you, but last week when I was chatting with Marc Lotter, a former special assistant to President Trump, I had to slightly agree with Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

Despite all the challenges facing President Joe Biden, Senator John Fetterman (D-PA), and heck- even Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)...why are Democrats trying to kick Sen. Dianne Feinstein to the curb over some health issues while giving all of those guys a pass?

Here's where the story gets funny. Democrats have convinced Feinstein to allow for a temporary replacement to fill her seat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, but they need 60 votes to make the swap. So far, Republicans are standing firm and won't back the move that would kick Feinstein to the curb and allow Biden to jam through more radical judicial nominees.

Sen. Steve Daines: Some of the most important votes a United States senator casts- it is for judges and I'll tell you why. These federal judges- the circuit judges- of course, Montanans are part of the, unfortunately, the Ninth Circuit Court, I call it the Ninth Circus Court. It's a left of center, radical court that oftentimes stops common sense natural resource projects. All of this forest litigation oftentimes ends up in the Ninth Circuit kind of fights. But these are lifetime appointments. Congress passes a bad law- a future Congress can change that law. But when we put judges on the bench, starting with the Supreme Court, circuit courts, federal district court, these are lifetime appointments. So we're standing firm, we're not going to allow Chuck Schumer to circumvent the system here, and we're not going to be helping him put more of these far left judges on the bench that are lifetime appointments.

That was Senator Steve Daines in our Tuesday morning conversation. I also asked him about the 2024 US Senate race, and how several Republicans are now encouraging Navy SEAL veteran and successful Gallatin Valley businessman Tim Sheehy to run against liberal Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) in the 2024 election.

Senator Daines: I've gotten to know Tim over the years. Tim graduated from the Naval Academy. His wife Carmen graduated from the Naval Academy. They met at the Naval Academy. She's a Marine. He's a Navy Seal. 200 Plus missions as a SEAL for our country. Got a Purple Heart. A Bronze Star. Four kids raising there in the Gallatin Valley. And then on top of all that has been a very successful businessman. He has the kind of background Montanans want to see: a strong leader, conservative leader, a strong leader on national defense, a strong leader in conservative policies, and a proven not only warrior on the battlefield, but a proven businessman as well. We need to have more men and women with business backgrounds here in Washington and hold our conservative values. So he's taking a look at the race. I hope he gets in. But we'll see what happens there. He's a patriot. He's a warrior. And he'd be a great addition to the United States Senate.
