NRSC to Jon Tester in Montana: Retire or Get Fired
Retire...or get fired. That's the message in a new ad targeting liberal Senator Jon Tester (D-MT).
Tester is up for re-election in 2024, and while Tester was able to win his last race in 2018, the Montana electorate has grown significantly more conservative since then.
Here's the new ad from the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), which is now chaired by Montana's conservative Senator Steve Daines (R-MT):
Here's the transcript of the NRSC ad targeting Jon Tester for all of the lobbyist money he's been taking in:
Number one- as in Jon tester was ranked number one in taking lobbyists cash. Reliable- as in Jon tester is a reliable advocate for Joe Biden's agenda. While John tester votes with Biden 91% of the time, we get handed open borders, more spending, higher taxes, and an army of 87,000 new IRS agents. Tester votes with Biden and the DC liberals now. He's changed. Tell Jon Tester: retire or get fired.
Here is the Fox News story on the ad campaign. Fox News added:
Republicans are looking at a very favorable Senate map in 2024, with Democrats defending 23 of the 33 seats up for grabs. Three of those seats are in red states Trump carried over Biden in 2020: West Virginia (where Trump won by nearly 39 points), Montana (which Trump won by 16 points) and Ohio (which Trump carried by eight points).
It was interesting to watch the Montana Politics hashtag (#MTPol) on Twitter Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Montana Democrats are clearly trying to cushion the impact of this latest ad by touting a liberal poll claiming that Jon Tester is one of the most popular senators in the country.
Here's my response to that spin:
